4th of July / Independance Day

Jesse and I started off the 4th of July holiday with a night at the rodeo. We went with Dave & Kelly and some other friends as well. I would have to say it was a bit slow and uneventful this year, but maybe that is how rodeos become when you have gone to them almost every single year since you were 8. LOL!!! My parents watched the kids so that we could enjoy the night as a couple. It was so nice for us.
The morning of Independence day came quickly and we were up early to see the parade in Molalla. We sat in front of Bimart with our friends the Taylors, and my parents. Because we were at the end of the parade route, the girls didn't aquire very much candy in their bags, but I was thankful :) haha!
After the parade, we went back to my parents house for a little grub and relaxation before heading over the the Wilson's BBQ. Once we arrived there, the kids were able to swim in the pool, goof around in the yard, and play on the playset. We enjoyed chatting with family and old friends. Wayne and Carol are always such perfect hosts.
By this time we were beat. But we still had one more BBQ to attend at a friends house. We arrived there at about 7:30pm and stayed til around 11pm. The boys lit fireworks and blew up manequin heads while us ladies tended to the children and snacked on junk food.

By the time we arrived home it was almost midnight and the kids were zonked in the back of the van. Jesse and I were ready for bed right away. ALthough we had a busy weekend, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and have many pictures to prove it. LOL!! MEMORIES...MEMORIES...
Love to all and hope your holiday was rockin' too!!!

Beauty school for Mosheesha??

There once was a littl girl named Mosheesha who loved to sneak around and get into things without asking. One evening, as her mom was cooking dinner and he dad was sleeping on the couch, she reached for the scissors and began to cut her hair.
When her dad awoke, he couldn't believe his eyes. He yelled for Mosheesha's mom to come look at what had happened. Her mother couldn't believe how much hair she had chopped off in so little time...but all mom could do was laugh inside.

So...Mosheesha and her mom rushed to the salon to get a quick fix. Mosheesha was sad because she began to see the hair falling to the ground and kept saying, "I don't want to look like a boy."

Behold...the new Mosheesha. Hair pretties are a necessity but hopefully the lesson is learned. HAHA! Her mom still continues to laugh...but only in secret, for she wouldn't want Mosheesha to know that she was even slightly amused. LOL

The Latest...

WOW! It is already June...halfway through the 2008year already...hard to phathom. LOL! Well, since my last blog, Jesse and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary...YAY! Seems like it has been much longer than 3 years but probably because we have actually been together for much longer ;) We celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Claim Jumper...DEELISH!!
Jesse and I stay super busy with the kids and work throughout the work week...but we also don't neglect that little voice inside that screams "I WANNA GO HAVE SOME FUN!!" haha! Our family enjoyed a beautiful trip to Seaside a few weeks ago...we took the kids to the Rose Festival for some carnival food and rides as well. My latest splurge was a new tattoo that reads FORGIVEN. It is a reminder of the truth that I am forgiven for my past rebellion and mistakes by God, family, friends, Jesse...and also to remind me that I am to forgive myself as well. Jesse will be getting a tattoo that reads FORGIVEN as well...but his will be much larger ;) haha!

As for our beautiful children...they are so GREAT!! Salena is quite the lil firecracker nowadays. She thinks that the world should revolve around her and everyone is supposed to listen to her demands. She has quite the lil 'tude lately. She is such a huge help around the house...she loves to feed her brother his morning cereal and fruit. At first she gagged him with the spoon, (hah!)but now she has perfected the skill. Salena is very excited about starting preschool in the fall. We enrolled her in the preschool that Moriah previously attended.

Moriah graduated from Little Acorns Preschool!!! The ceremony was quite cute as she stood there with a frown on her face, not participating at all. LOL!! but she was quite excited to receive her graduation pack and diploma. This picture says it all! She is very anxious to begin kindergarten now.

and our lil guy....he is nearly 7 months old already. He is rolling all over the place...should be on his way to crawling pretty quickly. He now has two, shiny, white teeth on the bottom....SO CUTE! He has the hugest appetite! Nothing like I have ever seen before. LOL!! Everytime we eat, he screams at us if we aren't giving him tastes. So I have taken on the task of teaching him some sign language so the screams will be few and far between. He still remains to be a joy to us...even with his shrieking raptor screams. LOL
SO, that is the latest news from this Hernandez family. Love to all...near and far!

HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY MORIAH!

Yesterday we celebrated Moriah's 5th birthday with friends and family. The party was held at my parent's home because the weather was supposed to be rainy, but we were blessed with gorgeous weather and were able to hold the party outdoors and enjoy a wonderful time together. It was so nice to see how many people love Moriah and blessed her on her special day. She loves each and every gift she received and is having a hard time deciding what to play with first. Thank you to everyone who was able to make it : Mom and dad (for hosting the party at their home), Sabrina and Casey, G-ma, Dad, Sharon, Ethan and Tori (thanks for being such a trooper Ethan...sorry there weren't any boys there for you to play with), Karmen, Dave, Kelly and Hayden, Nycole, Hailey, Hannah and Hunter, Jake, Tiff and Bella, Nate, Rachelle and Lauren.
Last night, we joined some friends of ours for a walk around town and Moriah was able to try out her new bike that we bought for her. She couldn't get enough of it, and is catching on so quickly!

It is so hard for me to comprehend that I have been a mother for 5 years now. Moriah is growing in leaps and bounds, along with the two other kids. I am so blessed and thank God everyday for his grace in my life and for giving me such a wonderful family to spend life with.

Mmmm....

Here is a pic of our little guy eating his first french fry....Burger King fry of course ;) I noticed that as we were eating our lunch, he kept eyeing our food and getting all worked up when we wouldn't give him any. So momma gave him a fry and he LOVED it!!! He wanted so much more but I knew better than to allow that. He will be starting veggies very soon...for milk is no longer satisfying this growing boy.

5 months old

Our little man is 5 months old now and is on the move!! The other day he rolled from his tummy onto his back. We figured it would be awhile before he would be able to roll from back to tummy...but he proved us wrong today!! I placed him on his back and walked into the kitchen. When I returned to check on him, he was lying on his stomach. I thought, "did he roll or did the girls roll him over??" So I grabbed the video camera and placed him onto his back once again...and he performed with flying colors for the camera!! I was shocked! He is also starting to scoot himself around by digging into the carpet with his toes. So it won't be long before our lil guy will be givin' us a run for our money....crawling and then walking. AHHH!!!
On a different note, Evan's birthday is coming up soon, at the end of the month. In preparation for Moriah's birthday party, I have begun to remember that Dom, Syb, and the boys won't be here to celebrate with us. Memories of last year's Evan/Moriah birthday celebration flood my mind and bring a smile to my face. I am so glad that the cousins were able to share that special time with one another before the move to Morocco. We are sad that we are not able to send Evan b-day presents but this will have to do for now buddy :
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR EVAN...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!! We love you budd!! Miss you bunches too! Have a wonderful and FUN birthday and know that we are thinking of you and send our love, hugs, and kisses!!! MUAH!

Easter at the beach

We just returned from a wonderful, relaxing, Easter vacation to Seaside. Thanks to my parents (who own a time share at Worldmark), we were able to stay in a gorgeous, beach front resort and enjoy plenty of quality time with my side of the family.

Lil Jesse experienced the beach for the first time... didnt' care too much for the wind or bright sunshine. We kept him indoors for a majority of the weekend due to a chapped face and a fever...so sad!!

Moriah and Salena thoroughly soaked up the rays and dug into the sand like pros. They loved every minute that they were able to get dirty and build castles and dig holes on the beach.

Easter sunday just happened to fall at the end of our vacation and so the girls got to have an egg hunt at the coast and enjoy all the goodies that their aunt Barbara and uncle Brian sent for them.

From riding the rental bikes up the strip, to flying kites... from venturing out onto the beach on the stormiest morning EVER, to riding the indoor carousel...from shopping to the aquarium...from exercising to stuffing our faces with delicious food...this family trip was AMAZING and we look forward to next year. We are so glad that we were able to share this time with my parents, my grandma, and my sister and Casey. Memories were made that will never be forgotten.

Our love for them will travel the miles

A piece of our family left for Morocco this morning. We enjoyed spending time with them yesterday evening, but did not enjoy the goodbyes. Family get-togethers just won't be the same without them.
Dom, Syb, and the boys~ we love you guys and will miss you so much, but we will hang onto the joy we have for your family in this time of new beginnings, and that joy will drown the sorrows. We look forward to hearing all about your adventures you had on your journey to your new home. Our prayers go with you...Much love! XOXO

adventures with cereal and teeth

I thought I was going to wait until Jesse was 4 months old to introduce him to rice cereal, but his appetite is growing and I could tell he was ready for something new. So at 3 and a half months old, he is offically a LOVER of cereal...he can't eat enough of it. He munches is down so fast and doesn't have an off-button, so I am forced to cut him off at a certain point. LOL!!! There is no turning back now. our son is going to be a chunky monkey in no time.... who needs a teether when you have fingers??? HAHA! our little man is definitely trying to cut some bottom teeth right now. all of us grit our teeth and smile, trying to be patient when he screams...*phew...he sure does have a good set of lungs on him.

3 months old

Our lil man is 3 months old today!! I can hardly believe how time is flying by. Seems like just yesterday, I was still recovering from his birth. Now I am watching him smile and laugh and trying to roll over. I am also remembering that next month he will start to eat rice cereal and from then on, time will go by so quickly and he will be growing so much. Jesse is very anxious to see him grow up and be able to run around and play sports, etc., but momma is cherishing the snuggling, innocent, baby days.

Making memories to take to Morocco

Tonight was one of the best times that we have ever shared with the boys. We were able to have them over to our house and take them out for a fun night at Pietro's Pizza. Julian and Salena were best buds...making silly faces at each other seemed to be their pastime while waiting for dinner to arrive.
Jesse and I definitely felt the difference with 6 children instead of the normal 3. The looks we got from some people who saw us walk into Pietro's with six kids were hilarious! LOL The funny thing is, none of the kids look THAT much different from us, and could very well have been ALL OURS. What an adventure!!!
Julian and I played cowboys and indians for a span of only about 2 minutes...but we were both cracking up laughing. He is so full of energy and quite the intelligent little boy as well. He loves to make sound effects!! SO CUTE!

DJ and Evan were THRILLED to be offered computer time by uncle Jesse. HAHA! I believe they played the same game the entire time and were so good about sharing and taking turns. I was definitely impressed! Sorry about the mouse boys...it was sticking pretty bad. LOL

Bubbles were a hit with Salena, Moriah, and Julian. They played out on the porch for a good 30 minutes, covering themselves with soap. But despite the cold weather and slimy hands, they were determined to stay outside as long as I would allow them. Once I saw their shiny, red noses, I knew it was time to warm up.
Thanks to Sybil for allowing us the privilege of spending time with your boys tonight. You and Dom have done, and continue to do, such a wonderful job raising them. They are so obedient and respectful, yet full of energy and love for life. Jesse and I are hoping that we can take them to Wonderland before you leave...so let's make a date!!! We know they won't let you forget ;)

We will miss you guys!!

As I looked at my calendar this morning, I realized that Dom, Syb, and the boys will be on their way to Morroco one month from today. I am so excited to see what God has in store for them over there, but I am sad to know that they won't be around us for awhile. I really enjoy spending time with them and watching the boys grow up.
Family is so important and when part of it is farther away than some, it leaves us the responsiblity of making sure that the relationship stays strong over the miles. I have been just as guilty as others in not doing my part to stay in contact with those that are farther away. I have begun to dedicate some of my time to dropping a line to my family who live farther away. I want them to know that I care. I hope that everyone will do their part in making their family feel closer to home. Drop them an e-mail...send them some pictures...let them know you are thinking about them. Along with Dom and Syb, don't forget our Marine sister, Crystal. She may not be as far away as Africa, but she needs our love sent her way as well.

Rejoicing in times of trouble

I have come to learn that this life will often throw you a curveball and just leave you crumpled in the dust to fend for yourself. But this is when I rejoice because we have Christ on our side and He provides for His children.
Yesterday morning, 5:45am, my cell phone rings and I see that it is Jesse calling. My spirit sinks because the only reason that he calls me this early in the morning is to tell me something bad has happened. I answer, half asleep, and try to sound positive. He proceeds to tell me that the Jetta is on the side of the road, broken down. After telling me the story of his "adventurous" attempt to get to work, he tells me that he needs the phone number to the tow company and that even though it is EXTREMELY early in the morning and raining and cold, that I will need to wake up the kids and go pick him up...in Portland. SAY WHAT!!??!! Everything inside me was screaming at that moment. There I was in my WARM bed, half asleep, with a quiet house full of SLEEPING children, and now the tides have turned and are about to stir up a storm. Despite my feelings of..GRRR!!!....I refocus and realize that my husband in stranded on the side of the road in the freezing rain and needs me to come to his rescue. Long story short, we pick up Jesse, call the tow truck a couple hours later, and the Jetta is now in the shop.
Now usually this would send Jesse and I into a state of grumpiness and worry about how we are going to come up with all this money for the tow truck and the car repairs, and usually it ruins the entire day for us...but we have come to learn that worrying about small things like this will not accomplish anything. We have learned to put our trust in the Lord and rest in His peace, knowing that He will provide. So instead of sitting at the house all day, wallowing in self pity, our family enjoyed a wonderful, care-free day together.
We rejoice in the fact that God has blessed our family and that we are not in need. We have a roof over our heads, food to eat, electricity to warm us, running water and clothing...even the luxury of owning two vehicles so that we are not completely stranded. God is so good. So even though we may have obstacles thrown up into our routine, we will conquer those challenges with God's help. If you put your trust in God, nothing can get you down. Why worry when you have the Creator of the Universe on your side??

Dress~Up fun for Moriah and Salena

The girls LOVE to play dress-up... The imaginations these two have are extraordinary!! From princesses to ballerinas, from lions to mommies...you never know what they are going to be from one day to the next.

We are so blessed as parents to have daughters who enjoy playing together.
